Massive Explosion in Argentina's Spegazzini Industrial Park: Latest Update from Ezeiza Blast (2025)

A Massive Explosion Rocks Argentina's Spegazzini Industrial Park in Ezeiza: Latest Update

A powerful explosion in Ezeiza, Argentina, has left the country in shock. Dramatic videos on social media capture towering flames and a shockwave that swept through the Spegazzini Industrial Park, causing widespread damage. The blast was felt across Ezeiza and Cañuelas, shattering windows in nearby homes and leaving residents in awe.

At least 22 people were injured as the flames engulfed several buildings, but none were in life-threatening condition, according to Carlos Santoro, the director of the hospital receiving the injured. The incident occurred inside the industrial park, affecting multiple factories, including a chemical plant, an agricultural facility, and a plastics plant called Plásticos Lago.

Ezeiza Mayor Gastón Granados described the scene as chaotic, stating that the exact cause and origin of the blast remain unclear. He told local media, "It’s all very confusing. We’re trying to ensure safety in the area and evacuate anyone who might be nearby. Fire crews are working to combat the intense fire that’s burning in all areas."

Granados also addressed early speculation that a small plane may have been involved, saying officials can neither confirm nor deny that a plane crashed until the fire is fully under control. He confirmed that 15 fire crews responded to the emergency.

The shockwave caused extensive damage across nearby neighborhoods, with shattered windows and evacuations. The owner of Sinteplast, a factory within the industrial park, clarified that his plant was not the source of the fire, despite initial reports. He told TN, "The explosion destroyed everything, gates, ceilings, some structures, and fire pipes were blown off. Fire brigades are on the scene. It was a terrible explosion. It didn't reach our factory, but the shockwave shook everything."

As of now, there is still no official information on injuries or fatalities, and emergency teams continue to assess the damage. The incident has left Argentina grappling with the aftermath of this powerful explosion, with many questions still unanswered.
