Fortunately, the musical’s director, Jared Bush, has responded to the audience’s questions on Twitter in many discussions.
He then clarifies the Madrigal family’s birth order, highlighting the differences in their ages and conduct. Bush and his co-director, Byron Howard, have always wanted to collaborate on a musical project.
Because they both grew up in huge extended families, they chose to combine their experiences to create Encanto, which features a dozen primary characters.
This premise proved difficult for the film’s animation team to establish because they needed to create people who were diverse from one another despite being from the same family.
As a result, in addition to having various , the Encanto characters also have distinct characteristics brought about by their ages and stages in life.
Encanto
Because Encanto purposefully avoided mentioning the Madrigals’ ages, viewers quickly pointed out that some of them appeared to be either younger or older than they were.
The debate had spread to Twitter, where Bush elaborated on the Disney characters’ backstories.
He went on to describe how the ages of the Encanto characters affected their personalities and relationships. That being said, here’s how old each Madrigal is.
Abuelo Pedro

They hit it off right away, married, and had triplets. Unfortunately, the conquerors disrupted their community, causing the locals to escape and prompting Pedro to sacrifice himself in order to save his family.
According to Bush, Abuelo Pedro was the same age as Sebastian Yatra when he recorded “Dos Oruguitas” when he crossed the river.
The Colombian artist sang the nostalgic song as the romance of Abuela Alma was described through memories, and Abuelo Pedro was narrated through flashbacks.
Yatra, who was born in 1994, was just 26 years old when he teamed with the Encanto producers, making Abuelo Pedro 26 at the time he died
Abuela Alma
On Encanto, Abuela Alma is carrying the mystical candle. Despite the fact that she had no supernatural abilities, Abuela Alma is the reason the Madrigals were blessed with the miracle.
Her candle obtained magical properties fifty years before Encanto’s narrative began.

Dolores
Dolores, Pepa and Félix’s eldest and only daughter, is also 21 years old, just a few months younger than Isabella.
However, Dolores, who possesses superhuman hearing, is quieter and more reserved, and the age difference between her and Isabella forces her to live in the shadow of her flawless cousin.

Camilo

His ceremony, the subject of the first half of the film, is the first since Mirabel’s, whose power twist was disclosed at the start of the film.
